10 Ways for Adults to Celebrate Their Birthday at Disney World

1. Get Free Celebration Buttons for the Whole Family

You can request a free birthday button at City Hall in Magic Kingdom, or at Guest Services in any of the other theme parks or your Disney Resort Hotel.  Anyone else traveling in your party can pick up an “I’m Celebrating” button to join in on the fun.  They make the day more festive and attract special wishes from Cast Members throughout the resort.  Tip: take a photo of your button once you get it; the “personalization” can smudge after a few hours of wear and tear.

2. Splurge on an Upgraded Room at a Disney Resort Hotel

What better time is there to reserve a luxury hotel room than your birthday?  Choose from club level rooms with concierge service, theme park views of Cinderella Castle, or deluxe multi-bedroom suites.  You can even spend your week in a private bungalow on the water at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.  An experienced travel planner can help you decide on the perfect accommodations for your celebration.

3. Dine at Disney’s Signature Restaurants

Disney history buffs will appreciate the opportunity to have lunch or dinner with a Disney Imagineer.  You can choose from lunch at the Hollywood Brown Derby in Hollywood Studios or dinner at Citrico’s at the Grand Floridian.  Learn about the design of the parks, the stories behind the theming, and some Disney secrets.  This special experience can be reserved up to 180 days in advance.

7. Be a VIP and Go Behind the Scenes

Imagine spending your birthday being escorted around the parks as you learn about the history behind the attractions.  Popular tours include the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains, and Walt Disney: Marceline to Magic Kingdom.  You can also go on a Starlight Safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  If you’d prefer a private tour, VIP Tour Services can arrange a private guide for your family who will get you to the front of the line on your favorite attractions, VIP seating for parades, fireworks, and select stage shows, and even pick you up from your Disney Resort hotel.

10. Blow Out the Candles on Your Celebration Cake

You can order a custom birthday cake to be delivered to most table-service restaurants or your own room.  These can be as simple as the Mickey Celebration Cake (which can also include balloons and “birthday ears”) or as elaborate as a one-of-a-kind fondant character creation.  If you’re dining at the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary, or Cinderella’s Royal Table, you can also order the Cinderella Slipper Dessert, a white or dark chocolate “glass” slipper filled with chocolate mousse.  Just be sure to order these treats in advance!
