7 Reasons You Should Book Your Disney Vacation Early

5. Easier Logistics

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by booking your vacation last minute – there are documents to collect, suitcases to pack, directions to find, and so much more.  Take the edge off by planning well in advance.

Get Your Passports Early

It can take more than six weeks to get a passport once you apply, although in the past it has taken as long as 12 weeks if there is high demand.  Even expediting the process can take 2-3 weeks.  If you’re sailing on Disney Cruise Line, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to request your passports before you depart.  These are always your best I.D. option for any cruise.

Request Time Off Work

Some employers like to know early on that you’re planning on taking a vacation, especially if it is a longer one.  This gives you time to get your work done early, make a plan for handling tasks while you’re away, and save up those vacation days.

Get Better Travel Insurance Options

This one is more about booking your travel insurance early with respect to whatever time to book your trip – some insurance companies will only cover pre-existing conditions (such as pregnancy, chronic illnesses, etc) if you purchase within 21 days of putting a deposit down on your vacation package.  You can certainly get travel insurance afterwards (even up to the day before your trip), but this added protection is definitely worth the timing.

Have Documents and Bands Shipped Directly to You

Disney typically ships out documents and MagicBands about a month before your trip, and if you’ve booked early enough they’ll be sent directly to you.  In the case of Walt Disney World, this means you’ll have the opportunity to personalize your MagicBands (name and color).  Otherwise you’ll have to pick up standard gray ones at the resort or purchase custom ones.
